    I am involved in community outreach programs designed to bring healthcare to the doorsteps of members of society. The program targets members of society who are at a disadvantage in terms of healthcare. This includes the category of people who do not have access to healthcare because they cannot afford it or live very far from hospitals or healthcare centres.

    I am involved in community outreach programs designed to bring healthcare to the doorsteps of members of society. The program targets members of society who are at a disadvantage in terms of healthcare. This includes the category of people who do not have access to healthcare because they cannot afford it or live very far from hospitals or healthcare centres.

    During these outreaches, I am responsible for taking the vitals (blood pressure, pulse, blood glucose, BMI ) of the people.

    I also carry out the Malaria Rapid Diagnostic Tests to detect the presence of malaria to advice and refer the people early and appropriately.

Using the critical thinking and problem-solving tools you learned from the digest session to guide your thought process, design a for-profit solution around this challenge and clearly state how your business will be launched.

    ==> PROPOSED SOLUTION

    There are a ton of processes that run on the internet. This means that a thousand and one problems could go wrong should the internet shut down in Nigeria. The team decided to focus on ONLY ONE problem that could go wrong and provide a solution to this problem. To this effect, the team identified 'transportation' as a problem since services like Bolt and Uber will be unable to function.

    'Design Thinking Process' was utilized in proferring a solution. The team had to empathize, define the problem, ideate, build prototypes and test the solution.

    The idea was to solve this problem using USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) to replace the role of the internet. The USSD will make it possible for users to request a ride, make payments, choose the location and cancel a ride. An order confirmation was to be sent by SMS to users who successfully placed an order.

    The team used TRELLO to divide and manage tasks to beat deadlines.

    A lean canvas was prepared to verify the feasibility of the business idea.

    The WORDSMITH is an initiative that seeks to help students develop public speaking and spontaneous critical thinking skills through engagement in British parliamentary-style debate competitions.

    Students are given 15 minutes to prepare to give a 7-minutes speech on an impromptu topic.

    In my first participation in 'The Wordsmith' debate tournament, I emerged as the 5th best NEW speaker out of 14 new speakers.
